African woman (A REPLY….Part 2)

Lovely son,
Don’t be depressed when you see mama crying.
Don’t hate your dad for what he is doing to me.
You’re a man, and soon you will be a father,
Please learn from me how to treat your wife,
Despite oppression, torture and rejection I receive from papa and society,
It’s your love that keeps me going.
You’re the reason I woke up early morning and keep staying with papa.

I remember the good days when you were in me,
I couldn’t wait for the day to hold you in my hands,
And the day I held you I swear to God I will never leave you no matter what.
The tears you see are the joy of me being a woman,
Created with a strong heart to love and forgive,
Created with Soft bones which didn’t break even at delivery
Pain doesn’t ruin me rather makes me strong and love more,
And still am not questioning why me? Or why such pain
Because, I know it’s a pride, and that makes me a WOMAN.

It’s in our shoulders we carry the nation,
It’s in our hands we carry the family,
And it’s in our hearts we carry everyone,
And still no one sees our importance,
Even your papa whom i love so dearly,

Son, please know a woman was brought to you as your helper,
Treat her as part of your own body,
And you will never feel a burden having her

What joy do you get when you oppress her????
Are the cultures too rigid that you can’t break through??
Noooo nooo son, nothing is to rigid to break in this world,
Even the cultures which we value and protect so much they can also be replaced,
It start with you son,

You are a witness of how your papa has been oppressing me,
You have been a witness of how our culture has been denying us our rights,
But never do the same son,
Treat your woman as you treat yourself
You shall be surprised of the laughter she brings in your life.
She is a human as you are,
Love her, listen to her, comforts her.
It takes a second to please a woman,
Do it son and make a change.
Let not a tear fall in her cheeks,
Let her smile shine like the morning sun,
Let her be proud she found a man out of the world
And let her laugh aloud.

Son I know it’s a battle your into,
The tribe, culture and society may segregate you.
Take heart son, for you know what you’re doing.
Let no one hinder your efforts and let nothing pull you back,
Let them talk, laugh, and criticise
But walk known you’re making a change to an African lady.
